Acclaimed by the Police forces of many areas of the United Kingdom, the Mosquito Anti-Vandal System has been described as “the most effective tool in our fight against anti social behaviour”. Shop keepers around the world have purchased the device to move along unwanted gatherings of teenagers and anti social youths. Railway companies have placed the device to discourage youths from spraying graffiti on their trains and the walls of stations and has proven results.

With an effective range of between fifteen and twenty meters, studies have shown that teenagers are acutely aware of the Mosquito and usually move away from the area within an average of 8- 10 minutes. The system is completely harmless even with long term use. The Times newspaper in England reports that the device was first used at a Spar shop in Barry, South Wales, where the owner Robert Gough was enthusiastic about the device's success in driving away the local youths. "Either someone has come along and wiped them off the face of the earth, or it's working" he is quoted as saying. Since then, there have been a multitude of successful reports not only from police and local authorities, but also from business owners.

THE SCIENCE BIT!

It seems that there is a very real medical phenomenon known as presbycusis or age related hearing loss which, according to The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, "begins after the age of 20 but is usually significant only in persons over 65". It first affects the highest frequencies (18 to 20 kHz) notably in those who have turned 20 years of age". It is possible to generate a high frequency sound that is audible only to teenagers. The Mosquito is capable of generating this high frequency sound without any lasting effects; the frequency will even reach the desired effect if headphones are worn!

WHAT DO STEPWAY OFFER?

We offer The Mosquito in a self installation kit that comprises a Timed Push switch, connection cable, Mosquito, protective cage and Dummy Camera complete with installation instructions and phone/email support (we do offer an installation service if preferred).

The reason we offer a timed push switch is to ensure that the Mosquito is used correctly, some installers in the past have had the Mosquito set-up to run FOR 24 hours a day, which in our opinion could deter genuine (young) shoppers from entering your premises and possibly affect your sales.

The Push Button system is used when you feel that your custom/business is suffering due to a collection of youths loitering outside your property. When the Push Button is pressed the Mosquito will run for between 1-15 minutes dependant on your personal requirements. The reason that we include a Dummy CCTV Dome is to allow you to explain to any irate kids upon the detection of The Mosquitoes annoyance that "the Mosquito is remotely controlled by a Monitoring station and that its operation is not within your control" this adds a fear factor to the system as 'they' also feel that they are being remotely monitored by a CCTV system.

This kit is primarily aimed at small shops/businesses; however, we do offer similar kits for domestic/industrial applications.
